CIHR Project Grant awarded to Dr. Stefanovic

The Project Grant program supports “ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes”. In all, seven research projects led by SRI scientists were awarded Project Grants from the CIHR Spring 2020 competition - a funding rate of 18%, beating the national average. Read more here.


Dr. Stefanovic appointed Platform Director of Physical Sciences

Following an extensive international search, Dr. Stefanovic was announced as the new Platform Director of Physical Sciences at SRI, effective September 1, 2020. Read more here.


James Mester takes home top award at the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Research Retreat

Sixty trainees presented their research at the 2020 Hurvitz Brain Sciences Research Retreat, which was judged by ten high school co-op students from throughout Toronto. James earned a perfect score and tied for 1st place in the poster competition. Our very own Margaret Koletar was featured in the ‘Career Spotlight of the Month’ by the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians (November 2019)

Dr. Stefanovic has been awarded a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair, the country’s highest research honour

Tier 1 Canada Research Chairs (CRCs) are held for seven years and are awarded to researchers who are viewed as world leaders in their fields. Dr. Stefanovic was recognized with a CRC in Neuroimaging, and our close collaborator, Dr. JoAnne McLaurin, was recognized with a Tier 1 CRC in Alzheimer Disease Therapeutics in June 2019.
